Safety depends on reliable brakes. Rely on us to maintain and repair your brakes.
SIGNS OF BRAKE PROBLEMS
Are you hearing grinding noises during breaking? This could mean it’s time for new brake pads. As the first wear point in the brake system, pads only last 25,000 to 60,000 miles. Timely replacement will preserve rotors and calipers, which can get expensive to replace. Our 60 Point Inspection during Village Auto Oil Changes includes inspection of brake pads. Other signs of trouble include:
Increased stopping distance
Wobbles and shakes during braking
Loss of ability to stop
Brake fluid leaking
Pulling to one side or another during braking
Brake light ON

TYPES OF BRAKE REPAIRS
The most common brake repair is new pads, and it’s the least expensive. Stopping is made possible on disc brakes by the pad rubbing against the rotor, which is a smooth disc attached to the axle. The rotor must be kept smooth and wears out over time, but not as quickly as the pads. The caliper holds the pad next to the rotor, and is powered hydraulically by brake fluid. Regulated by the master cylinder, brake fluid is a closed reservoir system that flows back and forth via tubing known as brake lines. Rotors, calipers, and master cylinders may require replacement to solve brake problems.
